Right in the heart of Kuchl, you’ll find a green oasis where you can cool off in the hot summer months. Bürgerausee, a perfectly situated lake for swimming, is a paradise for big and small and young and old. Despite its English origins, river surfing is possible on Salzburg’s running waters. There is surfing wave on the Salzach right next to the Bürgerausee. The “Kuchl Schwall” is a hotspot for river surfers and an experience for spectators, in summer and winter alike. Thrill-seekers ride the wave in all weathers. The essentials: a board, a wetsuit, a helmet and many hours of practice and persistence.
Kneipp therapy is healthy and refreshing, and restores your legs to full fitness. The free Kneipp therapy area on the south shore of the Bürgerausee invites you to take care of your health in magnificent natural surroundings. Step through the cold water and go up and down the therapy steps with a variety of large wooden blocks - it enhances your blood flow and circulation, and it's fun, too. And then you get to enjoy the nature and peacefulness on the wave loungers!
Fishing season:
1 March - 31 May and 1 September - 30 November from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. 1 June - 31 August from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. and 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. (fishing prohibited from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. due to bathing in the lake)
Stocks: Salmonids, pike, tench, catfish, grass carp, silver carp, common carp
Bait:Two rods with one hook each, feeding and live bait fish prohibited!
Catch limit: Max. 4 fish per day (including max. 2 carp), sturgeon protected all year round

The area covers the 15 km from Salzach bridge in Kuchl, left as far as the Königsseeache, and right as far as the Wurzergraben 900 m below Urstein power station. It also includes the Almbach from Albrücke bridge on Oberalmer Landesstrasse as far as the mouth of the Salzach (700 m).
Fishing season: 1 May - 30 September from sunrise to sunset
Stocks: Rainbow trout, brown trout, char, Danube salmon; grayling are protected
Catch limit: 4 fish per day
