Just half an hour's drive from Kuchl, there are well-known attractions and sights that are well worth a visit to our Bavarian neighbours. Magnificent mountain views, crystal-clear lakes and historic facts lie in wait. Here is a selection of our highlights in Berchtesgadener Land.

• The Königssee & St. Bartholomä
  The Königssee: The crystal-clear Königssee and the famous pilgrimage church of St Bartholomä lie nestled between mighty mountain ranges. Listen out for the famous echo when crossing to the peninsula!

• House of the Mountains
  The House of the Mountains in Berchtesgaden national park gives children and adults alike new perspectives on the mind-blowing wonder of nature. Along with the impressive exhibition that stretches from the forest floor up into the mountains, the House of the Mountains is also an education centre, which makes it an ideal trip destination for groups of children and school classes.

• Eagle's Nest
  Steeped in history and maintained in its original form, the Eagle’s Nest sits atop a rugged promontory. Now a mountain inn, it provides wonderful, panoramic views of Berchtesgadener Land. Documentation centre exhibition

• Obersalzberg Documentation Centre
  At the Obersalzberg Documentation Centre, visitors can learn about the history of National Socialism at a historical location.

• Rossfeld scenic road
  The Rossfeld is a prominent feature of Kuchl, and the stone arches of the scenic road can be seen for miles around. The road is open all year round, and provides magnificent views of the Salzach Valley, the striking massif of Hoher Göll and the surrounding mountain landscape. From the Ahornkaser car park, you can walk to the Purtschellerhaus alpine hut in around 1.5 hours. Rossfeld scenic road.

• Jennerbahn
  Take a cosy ride on the cable car from the Königssee up to the top of the Jenner. Lots of hiking trails for short or long walks lead to the middle of Berchtesgaden national park. Or simply enjoy the view from the sun terrace of the Marktrestaurant at the summit station.
