  • Hallstatt
    Visit the famous village of Hallstatt: with the lake as a natural border, the houses are close up to the mountain. A leisurely walk by the lakeside or around the picturesque marketplace is a wonderful way to pass the time. The salt mine railway takes you to the “Welterbeblick” viewing platform, which affords unique bird’s-eye views of Hallstatt and its eponymous lake.

  • “5 Fingers” viewing platform on the Dachstein
    The spectacular 5 Fingers viewing platform seems to hover above the abyss that stretches 400 m below. Enjoy fabulous panoramic views of Lake Hallstatt and the Inner Salzkammergut. Ride in comfort on the Krippenstein cable car to the summit station, from where you can enjoy a leisurely hike on the pushchair-friendly adventure hiking trail to the 5 Fingers.

  • Bad Ischl
    Bad Ischl still casts a spell with the charm of the former imperial town. Many chapters of Austrian history were in the Imperial Villa in the days of Kaiser Franz-Josef. Follow in the nobility's footsteps on a walk through the Imperial Park. The town of Bad Ischl is a wonderful place for a leisurely stroll. And don’t forget to stop for a coffee break at the legendary Zauner cake shop!

  • Lake Wolfgang & ferries on Lake Wolfgang
    Ferries have been crossing Lake Wolfgang since back in 1873. The unmistakable paddle steamer “Kaiser Franz Josef I” is still in service today. The ferries connect St Wolfgang, Strobl and St Gilgen. Starting in Kuchl, you can drive along the Postalm scenic road to Strobl, then catch the Lake Wolfgang ferry for an unforgettable outing combining the beauty of the lake and the mountains! A visit to the Lake Wolfgang Advent market is also highly recommended.

  • Schafberg Railway
    The Schafberg Railway is Austria’s oldest steam-powered rack railway, and takes you to the top of the Schafberg in around 35 minutes. Spend some time at the mountain restaurant, with its fabulous views of Lake Wolfgang shimmering in the valley, and the surrounding landscape.
